Visiting Assistant Professor, Social Entrepreneurship
Winter Park, Florida
The Department of Social Entrepreneurship at Rollins College is seeking applicants for a visiting faculty position in Social Entrepreneurship at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning in August 2019. The Department of Social Entrepreneurship offers the first AACSB-accredited Social Entrepreneurship major in the world, in addition to a Social Entrepreneurship minor. The Social Entrepreneurship major was a designated 2018 semi-finalist for the most prestigious social entrepreneurship education award across the globe, the Ashoka U Innovation Award. Our Social Entrepreneurship courses focus on practical application of business skills to tackle social, political, economic and environmental issues locally, domestically and internationally; the UN Sustainable Development Goals are integrated throughout our coursework.
Social Entrepreneurship courses are interdisciplinary, require active learning strategies (not lecture-reliant) and involve such practices as out-of-the-classroom experiential learning, community engagement projects, human centered design-thinking, business model canvas projects, public poster sessions and pitch competitions. Ability to embed these course components is expected. Teaching load: eight courses each year, typically four courses per semester; however, one course may be offered during Maymester (right after spring term). A tenure-track position may become available in fall of 2020, pending budgetary approval.
Doctoral degree in Social Entrepreneurship or a closely affiliated discipline (ABD considered), preferably from an AACSB-accredited institution
Ability to develop and deliver curriculum, meet the demands of the position in a timely manner and assess student learning outcomes
Graduate coursework, research, and/or professional experience demonstrating the ability to teach our Financing Social Entrepreneurship course and/or our Ethical Sourcing, People and the Planet course (operations/supply chain)
A desire to contribute to a diverse and inclusive learning and working environment where we view differences as rich opportunities for understanding, learning and growth
Demonstrated experience with human-centered design thinking, the business model canvas and community-engaged teaching is a plus
Expertise to develop Social Entrepreneurship electives focusing on digital technology, sustainability practices or innovation is an asset
