The University of South Dakota’s Beacom School of Business seeks applications for an assistant professor of management beginning in the 2019-20 academic year. The Beacom School of Business is the flagship business school in South Dakota and the region with its programs consistently receiving high national rankings from institutions such as U.S. News and World Report, Princeton Review and others. The successful candidate is expected to teach management related courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. An interest in teaching in strategy, human resource management, or leadership is desired. The assistant professor is expected to bring a unique and innovative educational experience to students through classroom teaching and mentorship. As such, there is the opportunity for student engagement through mentoring student activities outside the classroom. The successful candidate will be expected to teach classes in the traditional and online environments. Duties include an annual teaching load of twelve (12) credit hours (typically, six classes), engaging in related scholarly research, and service for the Department, profession, and broader community.
Required: A Ph.D. in management or a related field, an ABD with successful defense by start date will be considered. Candidates must have a record of or potential for contribution to the scholarship of management. Other requirements are proficiency in oral and written communication, and enthusiasm for engagement, service, and the public good. Candidates with enthusiasm for working with diverse student, staff, and faculty are preferred.
Preferred Qualifications: Related business experience is preferred. Also preferred is a scholarly interest that complements the position’s teaching fields.
