The USC Viterbi School of Engineering invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship position in innovation, entrepreneurship, strategy, systems engineering, and technology policy in the Management of INnovation, Entrepreneurial Research, and Venture Analysis (MINERVA group).
The position is a one-year appointment renewable for up to three years with competitive compensation and benefits.
This is a research position, but teaching responsibilities can be considered.
The appointment will begin May 15, 2019.
MINERVA has funding and proprietary data from sources including the National Science Foundation, NASA, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Defense, and Propel(x). We are focused on questions revolving around the advancement of so-called "deep technologies" (i.e., based on fundamental physical, biological, mathematical, or computational advances and with remaining technical risk) across the Valley of Death, particularly exploring the roles and interactions of public and private financing sources in funding technology advances.
MINERVA is the home of Innovation Node-Los Angeles, one of the national NSF Innovation Corps ("I-Corps") Nodes and our research is closely aligned with technology policy and practice, with partners in systems engineering, computer science, economics, and public policy. Our research group is closely aligned with our startup incubator and associated programs, and thus you can interact with this community, informing your research and framing relevant questions.
This is an excellent opportunity for a top candidate to hone research skills prior to joining a major university.
Academic alumni of the group have gone to Tilburg University and the University of Southern California, and others inclined toward industry have gone to Amazon, Apple, IBM, NVIDIA, and The Analysis Group.
