With 10 tenure-line faculty and 5 term faculty, the Management area has faculty with expertise in many different business topics, with a focus on Organizational Behavior, Strategy, and Entrepreneurship. Organizational behavioral researchers study topics such as individual cognition, creativity, decision-making and identity, team dynamics, conflict and negotiations, leadership, change management, and global/cultural issues. Strategy and entrepreneurship researchers explore topics of strategic management and analysis, international strategy, competitive strategy, and global business issues. Faculty publish in the top management journals including Administrative Science Quarterly and Strategic Management Journal. The management area offers courses in relevant areas ( e.g., the College’s capstone strategy course), minors in several areas including entrepreneurship and international business, and will be starting a PhD program in Strategic Management.
About the Position:
The Assistant Professor, Strategy, teaches Management courses in undergraduate and graduate programs. Conducts high quality research, teaches effectively, and positively contributes to the academic environment. The Assistant Professor provides service to the Management Area, the Costello College of Business, the University, the profession, and interfaces with the business community. Management is one of the six areas of the Costello College of Business.
Responsibilities:
Conducts high-quality research for publication in top-tier academic journals and teaches Management courses in undergraduate and/or graduate programs;
The teaching load for this position is determined according to the College’s workload policy; and
Additional responsibilities include service to the Management Area, the Costello College of Business, the University, and the profession, such as journal reviewing/editing, academic division board leadership, student mentoring, committee membership, and interfacing with the business community.
Required Qualifications:
Terminal degree in a related field;
PhD or equivalent in an appropriate discipline prior to the start date. For doctoral students, there must be clear evidence of the ability to complete degree by the start date;
Experience teaching, and willingness to teach, at either the graduate or undergraduate level (including online);
Record of scholarly and professional accomplishments consistent with an appointment for the appropriate rank, including evidence of potential for publishing significant research in top-tier journals;
Evidence of potential to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels; and
Evidence of significant published or “in press” research in top-tier journals.
Preferred Qualifications:
Expertise in conducting qualitative and/or mixed-methods research;
Experience teaching PhD Courses; and
Evidence of good citizenship and the ability to work well with colleagues.
