Operations and Supply Chain Management, Organization Communication and Information Systems
The AACSB-accredited School of Business and Economics at Sonoma State University invites applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant/Associate Professor of Operations Management or Management Information Systems beginning in the 2020-2021 academic year. This position would be hired within the Department of Business Administration, which offers high-quality, relevant education in business to aspiring and practicing professionals, managers, and entrepreneurs in the private and public sectors. The department's faculty emphasize the development and continuous improvement of the skills of critical thinking, effective communication, ethical reasoning, maintaining a global perspective, and applying disciplinary tools. The department offers programs of study leading to both the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees. The BSBA program offers concentrations in accounting, finance, financial management, management, marketing, and wine business strategies. The graduate program includes a professional MBA, a wine business MBA, and an executive MBA.
Required Qualifications: The Department of Business Administration is specifically looking for a tenure-track faculty member with cross-disciplinary capability. To be recommended for appointment in August 2020, the candidate must hold an earned Ph.D., doctorate, or other equivalent terminal academic credential in a business or economics related discipline with a primary teaching and research emphasis in at least one of the areas below: • Operations Management (OM) or • Management Information Systems (MIS)
Rank will be assigned based on evidence of effective teaching in OM and/or MIS as well as a portfolio of published research in OM and/or MIS or a closely related field, along with a plan for such research going forward and a record of service commitment. • Demonstrate completion of significant graduate level coursework in Marketing and/or Finance, as well as success in teaching courses in Marketing and/or Finance in addition to experience and emphasis in OM and/or MIS • Professional non-academic experience in OM and/or MIS or in a closely related field to OM and/or MIS • A record of service to a college or university, local communities, and professional and academic organizations • Terminal degrees earned from AACSB and/or EQUIS accredited programs
